Gators Rush the Line, Cox Stadium, 1963

About This Item

San Francisco State College Gators in light uniforms surge forward during a 1963 game at Cox Stadium. Number 40 carries the ball upfield with strong blocking from teammates 69 and 62, while the opposing defense in dark jerseys moves in to contain the play. The hillside bleachers are dotted with spectators, banners, and cheerleaders, and a row of eucalyptus trees rises behind the stands. The image captures the power and momentum of the Gators’ offense on a bright autumn afternoon.
