Goal Line Clash, Cox Stadium, 1967

About This Item

A powerful collision unfolds near the goal line during a 1967 game at Cox Stadium. An opposing runner in a white uniform, number 14, drives forward with the football as multiple San Francisco State College defenders in dark jerseys—including numbers 42, 81, and 57—close in to stop him. The play erupts in a tangle of helmets and arms, with number 72 from the opposing team moving in from behind. The photograph captures the intensity and determination of a hard-fought short-yardage battle on the Gators’ home turf.
