Gators Push Toward the Goal Line, Cox Stadium, 1967

San Francisco State College’s number 44 drives forward with the ball during a 1967 game at Cox Stadium. Wearing dark jerseys, the Gators advance near the end zone as opposing defenders in white uniforms, numbers 32 and 82, converge for the tackle. One defender brings the runner down near the goalposts as another closes in from the left. The photograph captures the grit and determination of the Gators’ short-yardage offense late in the decade.
