The first consumer telephone answering machine, the PhoneMate 400, didn't hit the market until 1971.
A year before that, San Francisco radio listeners were being enticed to spend $5 a month for an answering service called "Your Other Number".
This radio commercial was produced at and aired on KSAN-FM, the legendary "Jive 95" freeform rock station.
Found on an autiotape reel labeled "Commercial Master #35 4/9/70 to 4/23/70", it was digitized by volunteer Andrew Welburn.
