Dead Cow Leather Commercial

Is it poetry? Is it a commercial? It's both.

Dead Cow Leather had two Bay Area stores; one on San Francisco's Union Street and the other on Shattuck Avenue in Berkeley.

A perusal of newspaper archives from 1970 reveals Dead Cow participated in a fashion show called "Women's Front Liberation Party", at which much was made of the fact that all of the models would be braless. Anoither article mentions a shootingb outside the Berkeley Dead Cow location after a security guard accosted a would-be burglar.

And Dead Cow co-owner Louis Hersh, a 22-year-old UC Berkeley student, made the news when he was arrested in what federal narcotics agents described as the takedown of a nationwide ring of LSD whoilesalers.

This commercial was found on a reel of audiotape held in the Bay Area Radio Museum and Hall of Fame archives and digitized by volunteer Andrew Welburn.
