Avco Financial Services was a nationwide consumer lender. It had grown into a significant contender in that space by acquiring companies such as Seaboard Finance and Citizens Finance. By 1971, the company operated well over 1,000 branches nationwide.
This commercial is an example of the work of Mal Sharpe, who was inducted into the Bay Area Radio Hall of Fame in 2025. It's a classic Mal Sharpe production: he approaches someone on the street and asks a lot of questions. In the process, the sponsor's name is heard no fewer than 17 times in a 60 second commercial message.
