Longs Drugs Santa Rosa Commercial "Summer Specials"
Longs Drugs Santa Rosa Commercial
About This Item
This example of local radio advertising for a chain retailer comes from Santa Rosa's KSRO. The June 1968 spot featured "summer specials" at Longs, which had a Santa Rosa location among its hundreds of stores.
This commercial was edited from an aircheck featuring Dick Van Cleave. His comment after the spot ran, referencing "Merle", makes it clear that the voice is that of Merle Ross, a mainstay at KSRO for many years. Ross was inducted into the Bay Area Radio Hall of Fame in 2026.
