On New Year's Eve 1964, KNBR formed part of a nationwide NBC radio broadcast, The NBC New Year's Eve Parade of Bands. The San Francisco segment featured the Al Wallace Orchestra live from the Peacock Court at the Mark Hopkins Hotel.
Veteran NBC announcer Hal Wolf provided the commentary. This recording is notable for the fact that it was made weeks before KNBR would make significant changes in programming, aiming at what NBC Vice President Michael Joseph considered a younger audienbce that wasn't hearing what it wanted on the "old" KNBR.
This recording was found on a reel of 1/4" audio tape in the archives of the Bay Area Radio MUseum and Hall of Fame and digitized by volunteer Andrew Welburn.
