Sean O'Callaghan on KYA, 1968

Sean O'Callaghan (1935-2019) was a familiar Bay Area voice for many years, heard on KJAX, KYA, KLOK, and KKSJ. The versatile O’Callaghan was a disc jockey, music and news director, news reporter, and talk show host. He was a familiar figure on television, hosting numerous shows and telethons including the Bay Area segment of the Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) telethon for 24 years. O'Callaghan was inducted into the Bay Area Radio Hall of Fame in 2025.

This recording captures a portion of O'Callaghan's afternnon disc jockey shift in February 1968 (the precise date is unknown). It was found on a reel of 1/4" audio tape in the archives of the Bay Area Radio Museum and Hall of Fame and digitized by volunteer Andrew Welburn.

Many more examples of KYA broadcasts may be found here on the Bay Area Radio Museum website.
