About This Item
In the summer of 1983, KITS was running a "Family Fortune Jackpot" contest. An hourly announcement would provide a surname from which the station would select one telephone directory entry. A call to that number could produce a winner--if the person who answered knew the current jackpot amount.
If the call didn't produce a winner, the jackpot amount would be increased by $5 or $10 before the next hourly chance to win.
