Story: This piece is a sort of reissued design taken from one originally produced in 2007 for Amnesty International. The work brazenly comments on the impacts of Euro-American covert (and overt) interference, warfare, and imperialist chauvinism employed across West Asia and North Africa. It was reissued after the release of Shepard Fairey’s American flag Hijabi print, which was produced in response to the Trump election at the end of 2016. Mortezaie rejected the assimilationist and nationalistic overtones displayed in Fairey’s image.
