This collection consists of almost 3000 ancient Greek and Roman coins, mostly bronze but also some silver, donated to the Department of Classics over a period of almost 40 years by Henry Clay Lindgren, a long-time professor of psychology at San Francisco State University. Some of Prof. Lindgren's coins are also held by the deBellis Collection at the J. Paul Leaonard Library and by SF State's Global Museum. The Department of Classics uses these coins in its ancient art and archaeology courses as well as in two courses devoted specifically to the study of ancient coins. (more)
