The Lucifer Effect

About This Item

Zimbardo will discuss his book The Lucifer Effect, which raises a fundamental question about human nature: How is it possible for good people to become perpetrators of evil? This lecture will be part of the Introductory Psychology course and will address principles of social psychology that influence good people brought into systems where they will commit evil acts against each other. He will relate his original research to important examples in recent history, e.g. Abu Ghraib.
