KPFA radio aired this recording with commentary by Frank V. de Bellis on March 12, 1961 for his radio show “Music of the Italian Masters.” De Bellis explains that “Ballo” was a late composition by Claudio Monteverdi (1567-1643) composed for the accession of Emperor Ferdinand III, and is performed by members of Madrialisti Milanesi under the direction of Renoto Fait. The recording is believed to be from the 1957 recording La Polifonia Profana Nel Rinascimento. Carisch MCA 28009.
