KPFA radio aired this recording with commentary by Frank V. de Bellis on March 12, 1961 for his radio show “Music of the Italian Masters.” “Sonata in G major” by Giuseppe Tartini (1692-1770) is played by violinist Joseph Szigelti (1892-1973) and pianist Carlo Bussotti. Carlo Bussotti (1922-2002) was born in Florence, Italy, and began formal piano training when he was four years old. He graduated from the Conservatory Luigi Cherubini and made his professional debut at the age of fourteen years with the Radio Italy symphony performing a Mozart concerto. Bussotti served in the Italian army during World War II and entertained Allied troops in Sardinia. After retirement, Bussotti started teaching piano at San Francisco State College in 1961.
