Mission District - Industrial Areas

The industrial area of the Mission District is bounded by four regions, also shown in DIVA:  "MN" (Mission North) on the west, "SMw" (South of Market West) in the north, "SMsw" (South of Market South West) on the northeast and "Pot" (Potrero Hill) on the east.

It is a flat sub-region in the northeast sector of the Mission.  It is distinguished by large lots as it was developed as an industrial area served by railroads running north-south through the center.  Residential lot patterns are found along the west, east, and south edges of the region although residential land use is slowly replacing the industrial landscape as well.  The grid is the typical Mission grid of north, south, east, and west streets except along some of the railway tracks.  The region runs from Shotwell on the west, to Potrero in the east, to the Central Freeway in the north, and to just north of 20th Street in the south.
