About this collection

This is one of the smaller sub-regions of the Mission, and is bounded on the west by Potrero Avenue, on the east by the James Lick Freeway (U.S. 101), forming a long, narrow north-south region with only 3 north-south streets: Utah, San Bruno and Vermont.

The northern half is composed of the buildings of San Francisco General Hospital while the southern side is a relatively new city park, Potrero del Sol, formerly the Borden Dairy building. Between 23rd and 25th streets, residential row housing is found, mostly post-Victorian.  It is bounded by four regions also in DIVA:  "Mi" (Mission) on the west, "Pot" (Potrero Hill) on the east, "BHne" (Bernal Heights North East) on its southwest, and "IC" (Islais Creek) on the southeast.  The entire region is flat, with Potrero Hill and Bernal Heights forming a hilly east and southwest.  East-west cross streets run from 20th street in the north to Cesar Chavez (Army Street) in the south between 20th and 27th Streets.
