Cliff's Variety on Castro Street - 1975
About This Item
Cliff's Variety, formerly in a smaller store at 495 Castro Street, moved to 479 Castro in 1971, and expanded into the store to the north in 1988. A fixture in the neighborhood since 1929, Cliff's was one of the first straight businesses to join the largely gay Castro Village Merchants Association. A wonderful store, they were the original sponsor of the Children's Halloween Party, now held at the Branch Library because the Castro is overrun with adults at Halloween.
