Sharon Row from the northwest corner of Golden Gate Avenue and Steiner Street - 1983
About This Item
Sharon Row from the northwest corner of Golden Gate Avenue and Steiner Street. Photo of colorful Victorian houses located along the 1400 block of Golden Gate Avenue near Steiner Street. Built for William Sharon, one of the wealthiest businessmen in San Francisco, in stick-style Victorian in 1884 as income property. This view is when they had be acquired by Redevelopment and had not yet been rehabilitated. Had they been located in the eastern part of Western Addition during Redevelopment, they most certainly would have been torn down. A fair number of Victorians were rehabilitated during Redevelopment, mostly in the western part of the section. See related slide for the same view after rehabilitation. The last house on the right is the northwest corner of Steiner and Golden Gate Avenue.
