824 Grove Street - 1979, bedroom detail

About This Item

Detail of the crown molding inside a bedroom of a Victorian house located at 824 Grove Street. The coloring of the crown molding was done by stenciling, this is not wallpaper. Built in 1886 for Henry Brune. The Brune's moved to Ross after the 1906 earthquake. The Gallaghers would move in next, and they maintained the home as a single family home until they sold it in 1952. The new owners were the Antioch Baptist Church, who used the ground floor ballroom as their sanctuary and rented rooms to parishioners. They had made plans to make the sanctuary into a 2-story sanctuary but lacked the funds, and so in 1965, 824 was sold to Richard Reutlinger.
