Second palm is dying and is not in later slides. Koster Mansion, built in 1897 and is a combination of Edwardian & Classic Revival. It is built so that the front of the building faced east with a huge yard in front of it. Later the yard becomes mostly parking. In 1921, the property was sold and became the Jewish Community Center with a General Hebrew School. In 1929, it was sold to Rose Fritz, a physician, and it remained in her family for 63 years. The federal government took control in 1943 and used it for low-cost housing for military personnel until the war ended. The interior had been stripped and painted green. In the 1990s, the house was divided into four 1-bedroom apartments and 9 studio apartments. see related slides for new units constructed on the areas to the east.
