About This Item
Queen Anne style Victorian built in 1886 at a cost of $5,000. Architects were Samuel and Joseph Newsom. Stood alone for 5 years at this end of Grove, along with the Sutro Estate which occupied a half block on Hayes from Fillmore to Steiner Street. In 1924, the home was subdivided into two units. Between 1937 and 1970, the home sold 5 times. 1970 to 1978 it was the home of the French American Bilingual School. From 1978 to 1999 this was the Synergy School. 1999 it became a single family home again. Photo by B. Sinten.
