The shingled building on the far right actually dates to 1885. Next to it is the modern convalescent home with the title "Victorian Manor" dating from 1969. Almost surely, Victorians were torn down to build it. From a December 21, 1995 article 'Nearly 90 senior citizens are being evicted from their S.F. home because an out-of-state corporation plans to renovate the building and raise the rents.' The former owner ran into financial trouble and the building wound up in the hands of a bankers trust, who secured a Seattle firm to run the facility. Planning to spend $2,000,000 to renovate, currently half (45) of the tenants pay less than $700 a month. After renovations only twelve rooms with be low income and the rest will pay between $1500-$3000 a month, forcing many tenants to move. The vacant lot beyond with the tree was the sight of the Lind-Motzart Mansion that was torn down for parking for the Third Baptist Church.
