Sanborn Map - Fillmore, Grove, Steiner, and Fulton Streets

The street at the top is Fillmore Street, on the right is Grove Street, on the bottom is Steiner Street, and on the left is Fulton Street. The building colored red is the Koster Mansion at 926 Grove Street. The buildings outlined in red are still here, but the yellow-colored buildings are gone. The front lawn east of the Koster Mansion has recently been rebuilt with residential units, and the classrooms indicated on Steiner Street have been torn down and currently await new residential units. Note that the three homes on Steiner Street at one point had side yards, all of which were later developed. This Sanborn map shows an earlier residential pattern on the Grove Street side. There were only three homes on the street; each sat on very large lots, a pattern in much of Alamo Square prior to much of its later development.
