Community Assembly of God Church at 908 Cortland Avenue - 1973
About This Item
The Church was built as Immanuel Lutheran Church, Augustanus Synod (Swedish), of approximately four Augustana churches in San Francisco; these included Ebenezer Church at 15th Street, another on Vermont Street and Portrero Hill, and a third in the Bayview just off of Third Street. After WWII the Swedes, like everyone else, began to move to the suburbs, and all of the smaller Augustana Churches were sold to other denominations. Ebenezer Church was the only survivor and moved from Dolores Street to Twin Peaks, where it currently exists as Her Goddess Church. In December of 1979, the Church suffered from a fire.
