North from Bernal Heights - 1990
About This Item
Looking north from Bernal Heights, including Manchester Street. At the north end of Manchester, just beyond Bessie Street, is the red octagon roof of St. Anthony's Catholic Church. The Immaculate Conception Catholic Church is on the right side of the street to the right, with the trees. These are close together because they were called "national" churches. St. Anthony's was German and Immaculate Conception was Italian. The larger white complex in the middle is at the end of Manchester Street and was used in the movie, "Joy Luck Club."
