About This Item

This was one of the first endeavors by a Bernal Heights neighborhood organization to sponsor low-cost housing; it was successful. They have gone on to sponsor additional affordable housing. This was built on the site of a burned out home, seen in a slide from 1978. Architecturally, these are quite different from most of the new homes in Bernal Heights.
