Formerly Most Holy Redeemer Elementary School, now Live Oak Elementary School - 1990

About This Item

In 1994, Live Oak School moved to Potrero Hill at 1555 Mariposa Street because they needed more space. This became the San Francisco "Friends" (Quaker) School. The Quakers stayed until 2011 when they moved to the old Levi Strauss factory on Valencia Street. See slides from 2004 for a view of their school. The current occupant is the Marin Preparatory School (A Bright Horizons School). As of 2011, they had 26 pupils, Jr. K through 1st grade; each year they will add a grade. This is a bilingual Spanish infusion school (more gradual than immersion). Tuition varies but full tuition would be $20,000/year. About 25% of the students can walk to school. The Marin Day schools are now throughout the Bay Area.
