Exposition City map - 1912

About This Item

Published by North American Press Association in anticipation of the 1915 PPIE - Pan Pacific International Exposition. The photo is of a portion of the complete map that also shows the PPIE site and the rebuilt downtown area with finger piers. The diagonal street is Market and the German Hospital is the open space in the middle right that became Davies Hospital. The large open space on the right of Market Street is the future site of the U.S. Mint. The open space on the middle left is Dolores Park and the barren hill in the middle ground is Castro Hill. The hills in the background are Twin Peaks.
