About This Item

The white roof is a market at 18th Street and Collingwood Street. The streets running diagonally from lower right to upper left are Hartford Street, Castro Street, Collingwood Street, Diamond Street, Eureka Street, Douglass Street. The street curving through the lower right is Market Street; note the construction for the Muni Metro. Subsequent streets are 17th (barely), 18th, 19th and 20th. The view is of the heart of the Castro commercial district - the Castro Theater stands out on the first block; also seen is Hibernia Bank on the corner of 18th Street and Castro Street- beyond that is the bright red coloring of the Sausage Factory. Collingwood Park is in the center of the photo. On Collingwood Street going towards Market Street from 19th Street is the Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. On Douglass Street, in the upper center towards the right, is the mansion known as "Nobby Clark's Folly," standing out at the corner of Douglass Street and Caselli Street.
