Air view centered on Market Street and Castro Street looking southwest - 1975
About This Item
The dominant street is Market, with a lot of construction equipment associated with building the Muni Metro station at Castro Street and Market Street. The streets from the lower right corner are 16th, 17th, 18th and 19th. The streets running horizontally from the lower left are Pond, Noe, Hartford, Castro, Collingwood, Diamond, Eureka and Douglass. At the southeast corner of 16th Street, Noe Street, and Market Street is the Trinity Methodist Church that burned down due to arson in 1981. Its shadow shows the small steeple. West of Castro Street, in the empty area between 17th Street and Market Street is a triangular area that became Pink Triangle Park. The white roof is the Cala Market, with Collingwood Park to its left. The Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church is seen just above it on Diamond Street. Standing out at Douglass Street and Caselli Street is Nobby Clark's Folly mansion.
