3545/47 21st Street at Chattanooga Street - 2011

About This Item

According to an article about the landlord of this building, 80 year old Wilson Franklin was beloved by the neighborhood for his kindnesses -- and for reducing a tenant's rent twice! He was wealthy due to renting out his seven garages. His mail carrier, however, realized first that something was wrong when his mail piled up; Franklin was then found dead. The building sold in 1972 for $55,000 and for $1,862,000 in 2006. The properties are now sold as condominiums; 3545 sold in 2013 for $1.900,000.
