Victorian corner with commerce on the ground floor at the northeast corner of 23rd Street and Valencia Street - 1985

See slide from 1973 when the main tenant was Good Health Medical Clinic, a women's clinic. At one point, in 1977, the ground floor tenant was Valencia Street Medical Clinic. In 2012, the ground floor tenant is Photo Booth. The corner building on the right was part of a network of women's services in the 1970s and 1980s. The ground floor tenant of the corner building was an appliance store in 1973. By 1977, the main tenant was the Artemis Society, a lesbian club. Later, sometime after 1988, it became Artemis Cafe; see next slide to see the mural on their door. Artemis Cafe closed in 1991, and for a while it was Radio Valencia Jazz. Then it was the Last Supper Club, and in 2012, it was Beretta restaurant. The offices above were taken by nine female professionals and the Bay Area Center for Psychodrama. One of the offices also housed the Women's National Mailing List and the Women's Computer Literacy Project. See related slides.
