Looking north from 20th Street and San Bruno Avenue - 1976
About This Item
Panorama 4 of 4. The gabled homes in the foreground are on the western slopes of Potrero Avenue on 19th Street. On the horizon at the far left is the Federal Building on Golden Gate Avenue and to its right is a shadowed hill, which is actually Angel Island. To its immediate right is the tower of 101 McAllister Street at McAllister Street and Leavenworth Street. Then we come to an area of hills, Russian and Nob, with a number of high-rises. The tallest is the Hilton Tower at O'Farrell Street and Mason Street. Continuing right, we see the tower of the Mark Hopkins and to its right is the tower of the St. Francis Hotel. The next high tower is the Grand Hyatt Hotel, at the northeast corner of Union Square. Rising above it is Coit Tower on Telegraph Hill, and to its right is the Hartford Building on California Street. To its right is the Bank of America on California Street, and then the Transamerica Building at Washington Street and Montgomery Street.
