About This Item
The street running diagonally from the bottom filled with trees is Folsom Street, and where the trees end is 20th Street. The lower third of the slide is residential, and the industrial area begins above 20th Street. The gabled white building was U.S. Steel and is now the MUNI car barn at Folsom Street and 16th Street. Beyond, at the end of Folsom Street, is the red brick building with UCSF offices. At the far right in the industrial band, the grey tower with black windows is the former Hamm's brewery at 15th Street and Bryant Street. The church above the old U.S. Steel building is St. Joseph's Catholic Church on the southwest corner of Howard Street and 10th Street. The blue building in the lower left is the Cesar Chavez School located mid-block between 22nd Street and 23rd Street.
