About this collection
The Earth provides a visual feast and its study is the realm of Geology. The images in this collection were taken on numerous field trips, research projects and excursions to a great variety of sites of geological interest, during the mid 1960's to about the mid 1980's. They demonstrate the contrast and change in the Bay mudflats and tideland margins of that time to present conditions, and present design modifications in new dam construction. In general, the images include landforms that are representative of major Earth-shaping processes, Earth materials that are shaped by these processes, and structural elements that reflect the action of Earth's tectonic forces. In addition there are numerous examples of our human interaction with the Earth and of the structures resulting from that interaction.
