John Keene takes questions from the audience, discussing how far the stories in his book Counternarratives, date back, as well as his relationship to poetry and prose, and his equal interest in language and content. He also touches on ways in which the book is about how Black Lives Matter far before it became a movement. Keene discusses his research around composer Bob Cole's death, the basis for his story "Cold." He also relays how he manages history throughout the book and his aim to create counter-narratives to the narratives that more dominantly exist in mainstream history and literature.
