Tom Clark and Vincent Katz: February 5, 2016

Patrick Marks welcomes the audience, and Steve Dickison introduces Tom Clark. Clark comments extensively on the armed occupation of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge in Southern Oregon and its impact on migratory birds. Clark reads "Down along the bay, in the grey mudflats, the black-necked stilts...," "Words," "In my shot in the departmental photo...," and "Thanksgiving." Jim Nisbet, from the audience, requests Clark's poem on baseball pitcher Bill "Spaceman" Lee. Clark then reads "Negative Development," "Then and Now," "Blown Away," "Network," "Children's Games." He remarks on his early experience hitchhiking in Europe and Morocco, then reads "Hasan, of noble blood and proud demeanor...." Clark remarks on the contemporary immigrant crisis and reads "Easy To Forget," "In a Timeless World As Autumn Comes," and "Waiting on Tomorrow."

Steve Dickison introduces Vincent Katz, who remarks on Tom Clark's poetry, then reads "An Old Song Made New" (To Angelica and Tom) and "Old Song New" (To Angelica and Tom). Katz reads "A City Poem" and "An Openness" (To Norma Cole) from Swimming Home. He reads "The Predator Comes Now" and "We had a great blow up..." from The Complete Elegies of Sextus Propertius, and "Psalm," "Fecundity" (For Alessandro Twombly), "Brice," "For Rene," and "Ode to Spring."
