Tim Z. Hernandez, Marguerite Muñoz, and René Juarez-Vazquez: May 9, 2019

Following an introduction by Ash Tre Phillips, Marguerite Munoz prefaces her first poem with an anecdote about a working trip that took her through Fresno. She then reads "Fresno Lindo y Querido," an unpublished poem. She then introduces the next two pieces as part of a new preoccupation with the cultural and environmental preservation of Lake Chapala in Ajijic, Jalisco, Mexico, and the indigenous Cocas tribe that live there. She concludes her reading with "What Would the Tree Say" and "Along the Malecon in Ajijic, Jalisco," both unpublished poems.

After an introduction by Ash Tre Phillips, Rene Juarez-Vazquez prefaces his work recalling the 2014 Iguala Mass Kidnapping of 43 male students from the Ayotzinapa Rural Teachers' College. He then reads "Textbook Spanish for Traveling Abroad," an unpublished short story.

Tim Hernandez prefaces his reading by remarking on the importance of his reading happening in the Mission District of San Francisco, citing the mentorship of former United States Poet Laureate Juan Felipe Herrera, muralist Juana Alicia, and visual artist Ester Hernandez as formative to his growth as an artist. He then reads "My Name is Hernandez," from Natural Takeover of Small Things, echoing the Martin Espada poem "My Name is Espada." He also cites his friendship with Fresno-born poet Victor Martinez in his recollection of his love-hate relationship with Fresno, California, saying "I love being from Fresno but I hate being there." He then reads "Adios, Fresno," from "Natural Takeover of Small Things. After recalling an experience in the War Eagles Air Museum in Santa Teresa, New Mexico, he closes by reading from "Ilusiones," a chapter from All They Will Call You.
