After a brief introduction by Steve Dickison, Tim Z. Hernandez begins his reading of All They Will Call You with the Author's Note, to introduce the audience to his documentary novel and the research involved in writing the book. Hernandez takes time to explain to the crowd where he found the motivation to write this story investigating the 1948 California airplane crash that claimed 32 lives, 28 of whom, as Mexican immigrant farmworkers in the process of being deported, went unnamed in the media coverage of the disaster. Hernandez shows photos of Luis Miranda Cuevas, a man killed in the crash. Hernandez tells the story of his investigation into Cuevas' life and the search for his family. To finish, Hernandez reads his favorite story from his book, involving his interview with Casimira Navarro Lopez, fiance of the late Luis Miranda Cuevas.

Marguerite Munoz and Rene Juarez-Vasquez engage in conversation with Tim Z. Hernandez, touching on topics such as: poetry and its unfinished nature, the style of documentary novels, the power and significance of names and identity, the reason for pursuing and retrieving the names of the lost, vulnerability and how the it played into Hernandez's amateur investigative documentary work for his novel All They Will Call You. Hernandez and the others then open the conversation to questions from their full-house audience.
