Cardboard House Press/Cartonera Collective: Giancarlo Huapaya, Omar Pimienta, José Antonio Villarán, and Friends: November 8, 2019

After Patrick Marks and Steve Dickison welcoming the audience and poets of Cardboard House/Cartonera Collective, Omar Pimienta reads, in Spanish, from his Album of Fences/El Album de las Rejas, with José Antonio Villarán reading his English translations. Giancarlo Huapaya reads, in Spanish, from his forthcoming book Gamer, with Ryan Greene reading his English translations. Villarán reads from his forthcoming book The Open Pit, with Pimienta and Maggie Messerschmidt contributing. To close the evening, Claudia Nuñez, Raquel Denis, and Greene present their work as members of Cartonera Collective, a project of Cardboard House Press centered around creating handmade bilingual books; they read from Chilean poet Raúl Hernandez's Unemployed Poems, translated by John Burns (Cartonera Collective).
