Aaron Shurin and Robert Glück, 75th Birthday Reading: September 22, 2022

The Poetry Center, together with The Green Arcade, presents Aaron Shurin and Robert Glück, each of whom turned 75 in 2022. And thus this celebratory reading and evening in their honor, for their collective anniversary. Shurin reads his new preface to the then-forthcoming new edition of his book Unbound: A Book of AIDS (Nightboat Books, 2023), and from a manuscript titled Black Roses. Glück, after being introduced by poet and scholar Eric Sneathen, reads an essay requested by Shiv Kotecha in response to "Ordinary Time," a poem by Tim Dlugos. He also reads work from manuscript, including a piece drawing from "scraps" salvaged while going through the archive of his writing, "mostly notes for books." Patrick Marks, of The Green Arcade, welcomes the audience at the start of the evening at McRoskey Mattress Co., and Steve Dickison introduces Shurin, who opens the presentations with his reading. The program is presented with appreciative thanks to our generous host, McRoskey Mattress Co
