Louis Zukofsky — USA: Poetry, NET Outtakes Series: March 16, 1966

The Poetry Center presents Louis Zukofsky, March 16, 1966, speaking of his work and its background, of literary precedents and some contemporaries, his long poem "A" and his transliteration (made with his wife Celia) of Catullus's Latin poetry, in response to questions posed by Richard O. Moore, and reading from "A"-9 (his canzone after Guido Cavalcanti's) and from an essay. Zukofsky appears in his New York City apartment (with Celia Zukofsky making a cameo appearance) and with audio of him reading accompanying the TV footage of the poet walking on the streets of his Brooklyn neighborhood.   

The "Second Edition" NET Outtakes Series programs were made in 1978 by The Poetry Center's American Poetry Archives staff. Assembled from unused 16-millimeter black and white film footage shot during production of the original 15-minute USA: Poetry television programs (produced in 1965–66 for National Educational Television by Richard O. Moore of the film unit of KQED-TV, San Francisco), the outtakes footage is arranged here in the original shooting sequence. Note, some silent footage appears among the outtakes.
