Elise Ficarra and Steve Dickison: June 1, 2024
Friends of The Poetry Center present Elise Ficarra and Steve Dickison, "a reading by the organizers of hundreds of readings" on an occasion "in honor of The Poetry Center as we have known it for decades," held at Et al. gallery and bookshop on Mission Street in San Francisco. Ficarra reads from a span of work covering over twenty years, including poems written for Hinge: A BOAS Anthology (2002) composed by students of Myung Mi Kim, and a collaborative sequence written with Melissa Eleftherion Carr, who joins her in reading those poems. Dickison reads three longer poems from an as-yet-untitled manuscript. Eleni Stecopoulos, as emcee, provides opening remarks, Melissa Eleftherion Carr and Carlos Quinteros III both introduce Ficarra, and Patrick Marks introduces Dickison. Following the readings, Marks suggests a series of toasts, —before The Cake Part (as Stacy Doris put it).
