Alice Walker at San Jose State University: April 10, 1976
The Poetry Center presents Alice Walker, reading from her short prose and poetry, at the Conference on Inter-American Women Writers. The location is San Jose State University. Critic Naomi Clark introduces Walker, who reads from her first book of short stories, In Love & Trouble: Stories of Black Women, and from her second book of poetry, Revolutionary Petunias & Other Poems (both published by Harcourt Brace Jovanovich in 1973).
Note: for the first 10 minutes of the recording, black and white video stills are posted over the missing video; audio is intact throughout. For much of the program, a student photographer appears on stage close up within the frame.
