Kyle Dacuyan and Mirene Arsanios: April 8, 2023
The Poetry Center, in conjunction with the Poetry Coalition, presents Kyle Dacuyan and Mirene Arsanios, reading and in conversation, at Medicine for Nightmares in San Francisco. Kyle Dacuyan reads poems from his forthcoming book, INCITEMENTS (due from Ugly Duckling Presse). Mirene Arsanios reads several excerpts in prose from her book, The Autobiography of a Language (Futurepoem, 2022), and a piece in progress titled “The Commission.” The poets' readings are followed by a conversation between them, and in response to the audience.
This program is one of many across the US organized during April and May 2023 in conjunction with the Poetry Coalition around the common theme "Poetry & Grief," headlined by Ed Roberson's "and so much lost you'd think / beauty had left a lesson." (from “once the magnolia has blossomed” in Asked What Has Changed, Wesleyan UP 2021). Poetry Coalition programs for 2023 are supported by a grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation to the Academy of American Poets.
