Kim Shuck and Hataałiinez Wheeler: February 22, 2024

The Poetry Center presents Hataałiinez Wheeler and Kim Shuck, reading their poetry and talking with one another and their audience. Diné poet and songwriter Hataałii hails from Window Rock, Arizona, capitol of the Navajo Nation. In his first ever poetry reading, he reads work from Natives Don't Get Haircuts (Wry Press, 2023) and new poems. Shuck, 7th Poet Laureate of San Francisco, reads mostly new poems from her forthcoming book Pick a Garnet to Sleep In (Scapegoat Press, 2024). Steve Dickison introduces the poets, with the program supported in part by the National Endowment for the Arts.

Later the same evening, Hataałii performs a set of his songs, at a Poetry Center-organized program at Medicine for Nightmares, with Colectivo CalleSon opening.
