Colleen Lookingbill and George Albon: March 15, 2014

The Poetry Center presents Colleen Lookingbill and George Albon, reading their work and talking with one another and their audience. Lookingbillreads from her collection, A Forgetting Of (Lyric& Press, 2011). Albon reads from his book of poetry, Fire Break (Nightboat Books, 2013) then reads a section titled "Practice," from the manuscript of his book of essays, Lyric Multiples (subsequently also published by Nightboat, in 2018). Steve Dickison introduces the poets, in what would be Lookingbill's final public presentation of her work.

Note: the quality of this digital video from Spring 2014 is compromised due to the loss of master-files from failure of a 'failsafe' set of mirrored hard-drives; fortunately, a compressed video file could be retrieved from DVD backup.

Colleen Lookingbill reads from A Forgetting Of, as well as unpublished poems, "The Key" and "Gogel's Luck," with voicings from the audience. She finishes with a slideshow presenting her visual poetry.

George Albon (00:36:42)

George Albon reads from Fire Break. He then closes with an essay, "Practice," from the manuscript to Lyric Multiples.

Conversation (00:19:38)

Colleen Lookingbill and George Albon converse and answer questions from the audience in attendance. Topics include photography, inspirational icons, and motivations, as well as the craft, overall construction, and literary critique of poetry.
