Joseph Donahue, The George Oppen Memorial Lecture: December 14, 2013

The Poetry Center presents Joseph Donahue, delivering the 28th annual George Oppen Memorial Lecture. Donahue's title and theme is "Oppen at the Apocalypse," drawing on Oppen's later poems, his correspondence with Robert Duncan, and the presence in his late work of William Blake. The event takes place at the erstwhile Meridian Gallery, on Powell Street near Union Square in San Francisco. 

The George Oppen Memorial Lecture is supported by the Dorothy A. Fowler Trust.

Joseph Donahue, after thanking his hosts and preceding writers who've given the Oppen Lecture (in particular Rachel Blau DuPlessis), prefaces then presents his talk titled "Oppen at the Apocalypse," addressing primarily Oppen's late work, with his correspondence with Robert Duncan, and the presence in Oppen's later poems of William Blake.
