Marilyn Hacker and Charlotte Painter: May 4, 1977
The Poetry Center presents Marilyn Hacker and Charlotte Painter, reading from and commenting on their work. Hacker reads her poems, from her first book, Presentation Piece (Viking Press, 1974) and from Separations (Knopf, 1976) and newer work. Painter reads from her autobiographical novel, Confessions from the Málaga Madhouse: A Christmas Diary (Dial Press, 1971). Kathleen Fraser, after noting she is substituting for Lewis MacAdams and announcing an upcoming talk on the work of H.D. by Frances Jaffer and Susan Griffin, and a celebration of the life of Anais Nin, among other events, introduces the writers.
